DJ daddyjazz started DJing his favourite tracks in the UK, playing original RnB (Curtis Mayfield, James Brown, Sam Cooke) and Studio 1 ska and rocksteady (along with big bands and crooners as chillout music after all-nighters). The groove evolved into the sounds of Stax, Philly and Motown, then jazz-funk, salsoul and funk (JB again, Donald Byrd, Crusaders), and daddyjazz was leading the way once more. Into the 80s and daddyjazz's Brixton (London) record shop was one of the first selling the new hip hop, rap and breaks'n'beats. Then the Lounge scene took daddyjazz back to his home town of Derby to open Boom Club in the 90s, presenting jazz, nu-jazz and lounge, an antidote to the all-pervasive house music. Cut to Sydney 2006 and daddyjazz persuades Opera Bar to try some DJ jazz with the live bands on a Sunday arvo... And it works well... And he lives happily ever after in the sunshine playing music he loves in an awesome setting... (some guys have all the luck!)
