THE FAVOURITES

Long a favourite at Opera Bar in her own right, Rebekah Jensen has once again teamed up with musical partner, guitarist, producer and co-writer Marty Hailey (they first worked together in Raw Sugar in the 90s) to form The Favourites, our new favourite band.
The debut album, Counting the Days, is a showcase for everything we love about these two incredibly talented musicians. Big vocals of course, as you’d expect from Bek, across a range of material that swings from pure RnB through pop, jazz and soul. And brilliant playing from a band led by Marty on guitar, but also featuring some premium guests, among them Jon Howell from Chase The Sun on drums, organ maestro Clayton Doley, Michael Galeazzi from Karma County and backing vocalists Mahalia Barnes and Tina Harrod. Their presence shows in what high regard Rebekah and Marty are held by their peers in the biz.
Opera Bar regulars don’t need to be told how good a singer Rebekah Jensen is. She’s sung here with her own groups and Lotus Position often, to great acclaim, likewise her extensive work with Jimmy Barnes, Jade Macrae, Marcia Hines and iOTA. Marty’s CV is equally impressive, with much work for the likes of Jimmy Little, Abby Dobson, Paulini and more recently Junglehammer.
It all adds up to one great band, and one great original, music experience.
