London born sista Miss P – aka Paula Baxter - worked as lead and backing vocalist for artists and bands in the London scene including Norman Cooke (Fat Boy Slim) Dave Barb (Beats International) and Lance Burman (The Alfabet Tree) before releasing her first co-written indie single in 1990.
Sassy, soulful, warm and explosive, her vocal ability blends gospel with a splash of house, jazz, reggae and raw funk. Although born and raised in London, Paula can also sing in Ghanaian, Spanish and French.
Since relocating to Sydney Paula has worked and recorded with some of Sydney's finest including Paul Mac, Love Tattoo, Betty Vale, Jessica Malboy, Declan Kelly, Afro Moses, Merenia Gilles, Juanita Tippins, Rebecca Jensen, Michael Wheatley, Mark Boyce, Fat Back 4 Way, Grover and her own band Miss P.
Her passion for mixing it up has also seen her perform with DJ sound systems Martini Club, Cabin Crew, Boogaloo Allstars, La Fiesta Sound System and of course Opera Bar’s very own Double Yum Funk Club. At the Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festival in 2006, she was invited to sing with the one and only Michael Franti, a dream come true.
