3, 2, 1 HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The anticipation and excitement is building with just a few sleeps to go!

Opera Bar NYE is one of the biggest and best parties in Sydney and this year’s party is going be our greatest ever. To make for an even better night, here are a few helpful tips and last minute information.

Start time

The safety and security of visitors, patrons and staff is the highest priority. Bags will be scanned by an x-ray machine. Please travel lightly and do not bring items that require cloaking, including handbags bigger than A4-size, backpacks, tripods and large umbrellas; all of which are not permitted as per Sydney Opera House Conditions of Entry for New Year’s Eve.
Event ticket holders enter the Sydney Opera House precinct from 4pm, however Opera Bars NYE event doesn’t start until 6pm. Guests arriving between 4pm and 6pm will be allowed to use the forecourt facilities, or que at our door. We suggest you arrive as close as possible to start time to avoid the large crowds heading to the city later in the evening. The later you leave it, the more difficult it becomes- and the more you’ll miss out on!

Please note that last entry to Sydney Opera House precinct will be 10pm. Lock outs will be imposed. NO refunds for guests arriving late to the event.

Food & Drinks

Canapes will be served from 6pm up until the conclusion of the event. For those that are extra peckish you can head straight to one of our complimentary food stations, both inside and outside. There will be multiple bars operating on the night, drink pricing is not increased.

Entertainment

Acts begin at 6pm. We have a fantastic line-up of bands and DJ's – so get here early to enjoy all the colour and excitement. There will be continuous roaming entertainment throughout the evening, beauty bar and photo stations, so wherever you are you will get to experience the fun and excitement of the party.

Fireworks

Everyone wants to see the 9pm and midnight fireworks, of course, and while it can get congested in the areas closest to our stage and Harbour Bridge, the harbour-front areas furthest to the stage (closest to the Circular Quay) offer equally as good views…hint, hint. Opera Bar will be broadcasting the official soundtrack to the fireworks to enhance your viewing experience.

Finish time

The event finishes at 2am and all patrons must be off site by 2.30am. Please respect our neighbors when exiting the venue.

Dress code

"Dress up” is recommended (a lot of people do) but not compulsory. The theme is Future Disco (not Retro Disco), so smart casual attire with a twist of metallic or bright tones are the way to go. For those of you that want to add some extra sparkle, we will have roaming makeup artists to give you that added glam. Shirts and shoes must be worn at all times.
