Mind and Body Wellness Sessions at Opera Bar
September 2018
We partnered with wellness director and R U OK? ambassador Dan Conn & 12RND Fitness Ambassador, Ellice Whichello to help raise awareness for suicide prevention charity R U OK?.
We held two, feel-good mind and body wellness sessions to promote the importance of starting every day the right way, with physical activity and nutrition.
The sessions kicked-off with a 45 minute training session led by Dan Conn, former rugby league footballer, Elite Functional trainer & Wellness Director at Collective Wellness Group. Dan’s session focused on body weight interval training that spiked participants heart rates and left individual’s feeling regenerated and ready to take on the day physically and mentally.
Following the training session, Ellice Whichello, clinical nutritionist, marketing guru & trained boxer, offered 15 minutes of wellness and nutritional advice. Ellice supports wellness in all aspects of feeling ‘happy’ and guided participants through how eating a balanced macronutrient intake is the key to feeling well.
The aim of theses sessions was to create awareness of R U OK?’s mission to inspire and empower everyone to meaningfully connect with people around them and support anyone struggling with life. “Mental health is the most important part of my everyday happiness”, said Conn. “Not everyday is a good day so it’s crucial to look to your friends & family to check in & find support when you need it. Lifting the stigma and starting meaningful conversations whenever it’s needed could save a life. Everyday is R U OK? Day”. Whichello agrees, stating “Feeling mentally fit is different for everyone. Wellness has for a long time been misrepresented. It is the balance of feeling mentally well, physically strong & nourished in the mind & body that results in positive outcomes. We are all human & together not being ‘ok’ everyday, is ok!”
All attendees will received complimentary breakfast bowls (chia, summer berries, passionfruit and coconut), coffee and cold pressed juice after the sessions.
